Accessibility is not optional — and it is cheaper than you think
By Sofia Martínez, Head of Design · Published on · 5 minute read
One in four adults lives with a disability. Building accessible products is the right thing to do, and it also makes good business sense.
When the European Accessibility Act came into force in June 2025, many of our clients suddenly realised that accessibility was no longer a “nice to have”. The good news? Fixing the most common issues is surprisingly affordable.
The five issues we see most often
- Images without meaningful alternative text
- Low colour contrast between text and background
- Form fields without labels
- Buttons that can't be reached with a keyboard
- Videos without captions
Together, these account for roughly 70% of the problems we find in audits. Most of them can be fixed in a single sprint.
Make it part of the process
The cheapest accessibility fix is the one you never need to make. We include accessibility checks in design reviews, pull request templates and automated tests, so problems are caught early when they are still easy to fix.
